I don’t spend a lot of time in Niagara County, not because I don’t want to, but just because I really don’t have a reason to go North unless I’m visiting some of my family. This past weekend I was out that way and got to thinking that with summer coming I have to make a list of places to check out in that area.

Some places being the Lockport Locks and Erie Canal cruises. I think when you know the history that sits in your own back yard you appreciate the place you call home.

Niagara on the Lake is another place I would like to explore. Maybe spend a relaxing weekend or day visiting the vineyards on the lake. Its just a short drive over the border.

The Niagara Aerospace Museum. This looks like a neat place to go and learn about aviation and see some aircraft displays.

Newfane NY, While you would think there is nothing to do in that area, heading to a “smaller” small town and walking up and down the streets checking out the shops and restaurants. Sometimes its nice to get away and leave the “bigger” city behind and get back to basics.

  1. If you have not already done so be sure to check out Olcott, NY. It is wonderful! All of the little Lakeview Village Shops located on the boardwalk are wonderful: https://www.facebook.com/lakeviewvillageshoppes The Carrousel Park with 6-8 restored rides from the 40’s & 50’s for little kiddies is so charming. The entire park is coordinated by volunteers! 25 cents a ride – perfect place to bring ages 2-5. http://www.olcottbeachcarouselpark.org/ We’ve been taking Sunday drives to Olcott to walk around in the shops and have a bite to eat before we had our little guy. Now we love to go as a family. Last year, we purchased a brick by the restored fountain in the Carrousel Park to help support this wonderful place. Krull Park is also there and a nice walk with the view of the beach below. Great place for a lazy Sunday drive. Oh & be sure to check out this little place: http://www.byespopcorn.com/ We could not figure out why people were lined up outside this little stand in front of someone’s house. BEST yummy popcorn EVER! Happy Adventures!
